Which Visa, Arrival Card and Tourist Levy Do You Need for a Stay in Ubud?
To stay in Ubud on a holiday, most visitors sort out three things for Bali's Ngurah Rai airport: a tourist visa on arrival, ideally applied for online as an e-VOA, if their country is on Indonesia's list, the All Indonesia arrival card within 72 hours of arrival, and the Bali tourist levy, paid once per trip through Love Bali.
Most holiday visitors use the B1 tourist visa on arrival. Indonesia's Directorate General of Immigration keeps the list of countries that qualify on imigrasi.go.id, in a page titled Daftar Subjek Visa on Arrival; it covers about 97 countries, Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and New Zealand among them. Check your own passport there, because the country menu on the e-Visa site lists every country and is not the eligibility list.
The visa gives you up to 30 days in Indonesia, and the official e-Visa site says it can be extended once for another 30. You can apply online before you fly (the e-VOA, emailed to you), or buy a regular visa on arrival at the checkpoints that sell it, which Smartraveller says include certain airports, seaports and land crossings. Australia's Smartraveller advice, updated 16 October 2026, suggests applying for the e-VOA at least 48 hours before travel and notes that some checkpoints take cash only. The fee is shown on the e-Visa site.
What do you show at immigration in Bali?
A passport valid for at least six months and a ticket out of Indonesia. The e-Visa site lists both for the visa on arrival, and Smartraveller recommends the six months still be there on the day you leave. The tourist visa doesn't let you sell goods or services, or be paid by anyone in Indonesia.
What is the All Indonesia arrival card?
Every international passenger now fills in the All Indonesia arrival card, at allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id, within three days (72 hours) before landing. Smartraveller says the health declaration is part of the same card, and that the e-VOA can be applied for there once the card is in. It also warns about fake websites that charge a fee to submit the card. Immigration's own homepage notes that official Indonesian government sites generally end in .go.id.
How does the Bali tourist levy work?
The levy is Bali's own charge on foreign tourists, set by Bali Provincial Regulation No. 6 of 2023 as amended by Regulation No. 2 of 2025. Every international tourist who comes to Bali for a holiday pays it once per trip, and it is separate from the visa. The Love Bali site at lovebali.baliprov.go.id says it is cashless only and can be paid there or in the app before you arrive, which the province strongly encourages, or at counters at Bali's airport and seaport, or at registered hotels, travel agents and attractions. The current amount is on that site.
Payment sends a voucher with a QR code to your email, and the site has pages to verify or resend it. Keep it on your phone. Love Bali lists exemptions for holders of diplomatic and official visas, transport crew, KITAS and KITAP residence permits, family-unification, student and Golden visas and some others; Golden and other visa holders have to apply for the exemption through Love Bali first.
How long from landing to checking in at Ubud?
Allow time for immigration and bags, then about an hour on the road. Ngurah Rai is roughly 33 to 36 km from central Ubud by car, and our guide to the drive from the airport to Ubud covers the transfer options.
Riviera is on Jalan Raya Pengosekan, south of central Ubud. Check-in is from 15.00 and check-out is at 11.00. Security is on site 24 hours, so an evening or late-night flight can still check in on arrival. Riviera's rooms in Pengosekan are on the hotel page, with dates and booking at the booking form.
Land in the afternoon and dinner can be in the same building. Kumo, the omakase restaurant in Ubud inside Riviera, opens from 5pm Tuesday to Sunday.
Can you stay longer in Ubud than 30 days?
Yes, once. Smartraveller says the visa on arrival takes one 30-day extension, applied for at the immigration office nearest where you're staying within your first 30 days, and the e-Visa site has an Extend My Visa link. Use only reputable agents for an extension if you don't do it yourself, it says. If you're weighing a longer stay, our guide to how many days to spend in Ubud helps plan the time.
Where do these entry rules come from?
Sources, read 21 October 2026: the Directorate General of Immigration's e-Visa site (evisa.imigrasi.go.id) and its visa on arrival country list (imigrasi.go.id); the All Indonesia arrival card site (allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id); the Bali provincial government's Love Bali levy site and FAQ (lovebali.baliprov.go.id); and Australia's Smartraveller advice for Indonesia, updated 16 October 2026. Entry rules and fees change, so check those official sites again in the week you fly.
For us, this hotel was an absolute oasis of well-being and definitely one of the most beautiful hotels we stayed in in Bali. We would return in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special, stylish, and relaxing stay in Ubud. Thank you so much to the entire team for this wonderful time! ❤️🌴 We would love to come back again!
A beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Ubud with stylish interiors and great attention to detail. I stayed in a Garden View room, which was very comfortable, spotless and peaceful. The staff were incredibly warm, attentive and helpful. I originally booked two nights but loved it so much that I extended my stay by another three. I would definitely return!
A Beautiful modern hotel in the heart of Ubud, very centrally and conveniently located and close to the best shops and restaurants. The hotel has a very beautiful colonial atmosphere, the rooms are clean, modern and stylish. The staff is kind and responsive. It's a great place for a couple or single travellers, it's not really fit for families as it has no infrastructure and special spaces for kids. It's a great place for adult travellers wanting to stay in the very heart of Ubud and enjoy the walking distance to the evening events in Ubud or just visiting the town without the need to use a car or a bike. We will be back!
