Ubud Guide

7 Things to Check Before You Book a Hotel in Ubud

Before you book a hotel in Ubud, check how far it is from the town centre and whether your room has a window. Then look at how many guests the room takes, the check-in time against your flight, and whether breakfast is in the rate. If you're driving, ask about parking, and know who you are actually booking with.

A guide from Riviera Boutique Hotel, a boutique hotel in central Ubud.

Central Ubud means Pengosekan, Monkey Forest Road and the town centre, where restaurants, spas and the main sights are within walking or short scooter distance.

Riviera is on Jl Raya Pengosekan, a short walk or scooter ride from the Ubud Art Market, Ubud Palace and the Sacred Monkey Forest. See the rooms at Riviera Boutique Hotel, or our guide to staying near the Monkey Forest for more on the area.

Easy to miss on a booking page. At Riviera, Cocoon 1 and Cocoon 2 are interior rooms with no external windows. The two Urban View rooms look out over the neighbourhood and the streets around it, and the two Garden View rooms face greenery and treetops. Both of those have a private balcony.

If daylight matters to you, check the room type on the booking screen before you pay, since the six rooms on the site share the same size and bed.

Every room on Riviera's site is listed for two guests and measures 23 m², with a king bed, air conditioning and complimentary Wi-Fi. Riviera has 28 rooms in all and six are shown on the site. Travelling as three or more? Message the hotel on WhatsApp before you book rather than after.

Riviera's check-in is from 15.00 and check-out is by 11.00. Security is on site 24 hours, so a late flight can still check in that night.

Google Maps put the drive from Ngurah Rai airport to Jalan Raya Pengosekan at 33 to 36 km, about an hour, when we checked on 16 October 2026. Traffic in the south can stretch it, and our guide to getting to Ubud from the airport has the transfer options. Flying in around early March? Read what Nyepi means for hotel guests in Ubud first. Bali's airport closed for the whole day of Nyepi in 2026.

At Riviera it depends on the package. Rooms can be booked with breakfast or without it, so check which one you picked on the booking screen.

Parking at Riviera is free but the spaces are limited. Let the hotel know on WhatsApp before you arrive so a space can be confirmed for you.

Third-party sites resell rooms too, so check whose booking engine you're in. On Riviera's own site, every Book Now and Check Availability button goes to the booking form on the hotel page, which opens the hotel's own booking engine with your dates and guests filled in. If you'd rather ask first, the hotel's WhatsApp, +62 811-2891-1122, takes room questions.

Read on 24 October 2026 from Riviera's own rooms, contact and FAQ pages on rivieraubud.com, including the check-in times, parking and breakfast details the hotel confirmed on 20 October 2026. The airport drive is a Google Maps reading from 16 October 2026. Check times and policies with the hotel before you travel.

  • A beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Ubud with stylish interiors and great attention to detail. I stayed in a Garden View room, which was very comfortable, spotless and peaceful. The staff were incredibly warm, attentive and helpful. I originally booked two nights but loved it so much that I extended my stay by another three. I would definitely return!

  • A Beautiful modern hotel in the heart of Ubud, very centrally and conveniently located and close to the best shops and restaurants. The hotel has a very beautiful colonial atmosphere, the rooms are clean, modern and stylish. The staff is kind and responsive. It's a great place for a couple or single travellers, it's not really fit for families as it has no infrastructure and special spaces for kids. It's a great place for adult travellers wanting to stay in the very heart of Ubud and enjoy the walking distance to the evening events in Ubud or just visiting the town without the need to use a car or a bike. We will be back!
