Ubud Guide

Where to Stay in Ubud When the Room's Light Matters

Riviera Boutique Hotel has three room styles for different preferences: Cocoon is an interior room without an external window, Urban View faces the neighbourhood, and Garden View looks toward greenery. The six individual room pages show differences within each pair, so compare the actual room before booking your Ubud stay.

Start with the light you want when you open the curtains. Riviera sits on Jalan Raya Pengosekan, and its Cocoon, Urban View and Garden View styles offer different room experiences within the same hotel. A category name does not show every bed, bathroom or entrance detail, so open the individual room pages before choosing.

Riviera lists six individual room pages, two in each style. Each listed room is 23 square metres and accommodates two guests. Availability and the precise room offered for your dates belong on the booking page.

Cocoon 1 and Cocoon 2 are interior rooms without external windows. That suits a guest who wants a darker space for rest between outings. Someone who wants daylight or a view from the bed should compare the other styles instead.

The two Cocoon rooms vary in bed and bathroom design. Look at Cocoon 1 and Cocoon 2 separately; the number is not a promise of an identical layout.

Urban View Room 1 faces the streets and surroundings of central Ubud. Room 2 shares the broad neighbourhood outlook but differs in bed and bathroom layout. Both give a sense of the area outside, which feels different from the greenery of a garden-facing room.

Compare Urban View Room 1 with Room 2 if the outlook and layout matter to your stay.

Garden View Room 1 is described as bright and surrounded by tropical greenery. Room 2 has the same garden-facing concept, with differences in its bathroom and entrance. If a green outlook is part of why you are choosing Ubud accommodation, compare this pair first.

Open Garden View Room 1 and Room 2 for the full photo sets. Confirm the room and availability with the hotel before relying on a particular view.

Ask for the individual room if a certain view, bed or bathroom arrangement matters. Riviera has 28 rooms in the building, while its site presents six individual room pages. Rates and availability can change, so check the booking details for your dates instead of inferring them from a photograph.

The hotel also houses a spa, lounge and Kumo Fusion Omakase. Those are convenient during a stay, but the room choice starts with your preferred light and outlook. Compare Riviera's rooms, then check your dates.

Common questions

  • A beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Ubud with stylish interiors and great attention to detail. I stayed in a Garden View room, which was very comfortable, spotless and peaceful. The staff were incredibly warm, attentive and helpful. I originally booked two nights but loved it so much that I extended my stay by another three. I would definitely return!

  • A Beautiful modern hotel in the heart of Ubud, very centrally and conveniently located and close to the best shops and restaurants. The hotel has a very beautiful colonial atmosphere, the rooms are clean, modern and stylish. The staff is kind and responsive. It's a great place for a couple or single travellers, it's not really fit for families as it has no infrastructure and special spaces for kids. It's a great place for adult travellers wanting to stay in the very heart of Ubud and enjoy the walking distance to the evening events in Ubud or just visiting the town without the need to use a car or a bike. We will be back!
