Garden View Room 1 faces the garden. A tall arched door in a black frame opens onto a private balcony that sits level with the palms, so the outlook is foliage rather than rooftops and the room takes its daylight through leaves.
Behind the bed the wall is dark walnut, lit by a brass sconce and a pendant. A walnut wardrobe with open shelving holds a hanging robe, and an armchair sits near the door. The bathroom is entered through an arched opening with carved timber doors and is finished in warm stone: a backlit mirror, a rounded basin, a walk-in rain shower and a lit niche for toiletries, with a towel rail beside the glass.
What sets Garden View Room 1 apart from the street-facing rooms is what the balcony looks onto. A beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Ubud with stylish interiors and great attention to detail. I stayed in a Garden View room, which was very comfortable, spotless and peaceful. The staff were incredibly warm, attentive and helpful. I originally booked two nights but loved it so much that I extended my stay by another three. I would definitely return!
A Beautiful modern hotel in the heart of Ubud, very centrally and conveniently located and close to the best shops and restaurants. The hotel has a very beautiful colonial atmosphere, the rooms are clean, modern and stylish. The staff is kind and responsive. It's a great place for a couple or single travellers, it's not really fit for families as it has no infrastructure and special spaces for kids. It's a great place for adult travellers wanting to stay in the very heart of Ubud and enjoy the walking distance to the evening events in Ubud or just visiting the town without the need to use a car or a bike. We will be back!

How are the bed and bathroom set up in Garden View Room 1?
The room is 23 m² and sleeps two. Room features are a king bed at 180 × 200 cm, a private balcony, air conditioning, an in-room safe and daily housekeeping.
Complimentary Wi-Fi, a tea and coffee station and a hair dryer are in the room, and the minibar is charged separately. Filtered water is unlimited from the refill station for the length of the stay, with fresh drinking water provided in the room each day. The bathroom carries a rain shower and natural shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hand soap.
Behind the bed the wall is dark walnut, lit by a single brass sconce and a pendant rather than a matched pair, so the light on the sleeping side is softer and less symmetrical than in the other rooms. The walnut wardrobe with open shelving holds a hanging robe, and the armchair sits near the balcony door where the garden light reaches. The ceiling fan and the air conditioning keep the air moving together.
Garden View Room 1 is one of 28 rooms at Riviera, where the spa, the lounge and Kumo Fusion Omakase share the building with the rooms. The lounge is a cafe for coffee and pastries in the day and a wine lounge in the evening, the spa books Balinese and deep-tissue massage, aromatherapy, foot care and hair treatments, and Kumo seats thirty guests a night, four at the omakase counter and the rest at the steak-house tables. A garden room and a slow morning in the lounge belong to the same kind of stay.
Riviera is on Jl Raya Pengosekan, in the Pengosekan part of Ubud, an area shaped by its painters and still lined with galleries. Ubud's main street runs up from the door, and the town's cafes, shops and markets are a short walk away with the palace and temples beyond. A garden-facing room keeps the town at arm's length when you want it and a short walk away when you do not.

Garden View Room 1 suits guests who want the palms and the quiet of the garden side and are happy with a single arched door onto the balcony. The uneven pairing of a sconce and a pendant gives the bed a softer, homelier light than the matched fittings in the other rooms, and the hanging robe and the armchair by the door make it an easy room to settle into for a few nights. Between the two garden rooms, this is the more contained one: its bathroom sits behind solid carved timber doors and warm stone rather than the open lattice screen used in Room 2, which gives it a more private finish.
